Martha Weber visit

All I can say is wow. What a great person to have come speak to our class with firsthand knowledge on of Hungarian culture.

When she was talking to the class about Hungarian food and saying names of people she knows, it was hard for me to disregard her comment that Hungarian culture is hardly like German culture.

With my grandparents coming from German and with me having firsthand knowledge on their culture, I thought they would be similar in at least a few ways. The names of people she knows have the same sound, a few of the foods my grandma has made, minus the paprika, of course, but regardless seems alike in a few ways.

Although there is a large difference in how they lived, it almost sounds as though her family in Hungary went through a lot more than what my grandparents went through in Germany, which I found incredibly surprising.

Even the stitching she brought in to show us and the glass and the dolls even resembled a lot of items my grandparents have in shelves in their home. I digress on the subject.

Overall I learned a lot about her life, how she was brought up differently than others born in the U.S., and her views of her heritage and where she lives now.

I hope to write a great story over her life and do a photo essay with one of the contacts she has to offer.
